Cat advice
Cat advice sought.

Looking to get a first kitten for my home, plenty of time/space since my mate Jonesy moved out.

* Pedigree cat. British blue shorthair?
* Ginger tom from private seller for a ton to less than a carpet
* Animal shelter. Concerned they might be difficult/scared.

What's the best to go for?

Re: Cat advice
My sister's cats were bullied by the neighbour's cats.

On several occasions, the dog tried to rescue one or other of them, but our cats, not understanding social life like dogs, legged it along with the bullies into the next garden, where the bullying continued.

Had a British Shorthair up until last year. Lovely cat, followed me everywhere. It used to see the post man and growl at him.

Re: Cat advice
Kids love dogs.

Because I was oldest, I was the first to ask for a pet, and got a marvelous Irish setter (took my Mum back to her childhood, as her parents bred them).

As my parents didn't want more than one dog in the house, my two sisters had to settle for cats.

They were quite jealous, even though I never tried to monopolise the dog's affections. The fact that I formally owned it and they got second prize annoyed them.

Ironically, they now have dogs, and I have third prize, tropical fish.

Re: Cat advice
Rats, introduced by humans, have cleansed the gene pool of several species so thoroughly that it's completely empty.

Cats seem bent on emulating what rats have done on remote islands, but in suburbia.

Yeah, I know humans have done similar stuff, but I'm inclined to give them some leeway because I am one.
